Beth Meyer Synagogue, a Jewish house of worship and learning community, invites applications for employment as a three-quarter-time Program Manager. An indispensable partner to our rabbis, Religious School Director, Executive Director, and volunteers, the Program Manager is responsible for the administration of Naomi & Ken Kramer Religious School and directs community-building initiatives at Beth Meyer Synagogue.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Program Administration. Empower clergy, staffpersons, and volunteers to design and implement community-building initiatives. Execute day-of coordination and diverse support tasks as needed, including registration management, vendor supervision, volunteer guidance, and recordkeeping.
  2. Calendaring. Manage the intra-office calendar to coordinate resource use. Process and approve reservations and deliver instructions to program team — Communications Manager, Catering and Kitchen Coordinator, Facilities Custodian, Production Assistant, and off-duty police officers.
  3. Technology Administration. Maintain inventory of circulating audio-visual equipment required to implement programs, such as microphones and personal assistive listening devices. Moderate or ensure moderation of Zoom gatherings and serve as backup to Production Assistant for livestream operations.
  4. Service Operations. Execute set-up and clean-up of Sanctuary for Saturday morning services in collaboration with Clergy Assistant. Staff the front desk as needed and assist teammates to prepare for weekend activities (e.g., compiling service bulletin, cooking luncheon).
  5. School Administration. Assist Director of Religious School & Family Programs to run Naomi & Ken Kramer Religious School — sample duties are listed below.
    • Maintain school Google calendars and curriculum files and order and prepare instructional resources (e.g., Hebrew notebooks for prayer study).
    • Direct care of classrooms, teaching spaces, supplies storage, and educational displays. Shop and stock classrooms and art room with required supplies.
    • Direct distribution of communications to enrolled families.

Qualifications:

  1. 1-3 years of work experience and consistent availability to work Friday mornings are required.
  2. Basic knowledge of Judaism and experience using Constant Contact and Canva are pluses.

Compensation and Benefits:

  1. The base salary for the Programs Manager job is $41,500.
  2. The Program Manager works 30 hours per week and co-determines with their supervisors their work schedule. Enjoy a four-day workweek if you want!
  3. The Program Manager is eligible to enroll in group medical and dental insurance plans after 30 days of employment. Beth Meyer Synagogue pays 75% of the Program Manager’s premiums and 50% of premiums for qualified dependents.
  4. Employees working at least 30 hours per week can participate in a retirement plan. Beth Meyer Synagogue will contribute a dollar-for-dollar match up to 2% of the Program Manager’s salary one year after the employee’s start date.
  5. The base vacation leave award for the Programs Manager is two weeks. The Programs Manager earns compensation on office holidays. Leave is permitted for other reasons (e.g., preventative care, mourning) described in our Employee Handbook.

  7. Funds for training and professional development are available for this job and are disbursable at the supervisors’ discretion.
